Our visit to Santa’s Workshop in North Pole, Alaska

very last minute, we decided to schedule a trip up to the North Pole to see Santa! When we lived in MN, we were very spoiled with the ability to find Santa everywhere, out here, not so much. So, we decided to find him where he rests LOL!

The drive up to the North Pole was LONG! We left around 5am and we arrived a little after 1130am. The drive took us through Denali national Park, past Fairbanks, and landed us directly in the North Pole.

Now, driving through Denali when it is pitch black outside is no small feat. David did AMAZING! It is wonderful to be able to have someone else that you trust drive around winding roads with snow and no street lights. When we made it through about half of the park, we noticed a light above us that was not sitting still and we knew it was not the sun because in Alaska right now, the sun does not come up until after 10am. The light above us was the Northern Lights! However, it was blocked by the mountains that we were trying to get through so we kept on going.

Around 10am, we started to be able to see what was around us. The mountains started showing their silhouette in the distance and the road finally appeared to be a different color than the ground to either side. We were suddenly able to see that there were a lot less mountains and a lot more flat road than we had been sued it.

When we got closer to Fairbanks, the trees changed. They appeared to be more clustered and not as thick. You could see for what seemed like 100’s of miles in any direction. The space became breathtaking!

Getting into the North Pole was so much fun. From the moment we arrived there were little details that represented the Holiday Spirit.

We went around a few round-a-bouts and arrived at our destination; Santa’s Workshop!

We have been to some pretty magical places and this one is up in the top 3 for sure. The feeling when you walked into this place and felt the Christmas Magic is hard to describe. There was so much joy and beauty all around it was contagious. To top it off, Mr. and Mrs. Clause were there just hanging out!!!

Outside of the Workshop there was a farm where Santa’s Reindeer were getting fed. They were all there; Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen! We didn’t see Rudolph and we couldn’t go into the barn but the size of their feet was OUTSTANDING! It makes sense how they land on roofs!

So, As I said before, if you ever get a chance to visit the North Pole, please do it! The city is a real city so you don’t have to wait until the holidays but doing so just adds to the magic!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!!
